While in Novigrad

Novigrad is a historic, small town nestled along the Istrian coast, and offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and seaside charm. The region is also known for a truffle-rich cuisine and its splendid wine & wineries, with an unique assortment of grapes.

We have so many nice memories from Novigrad, and we're really excited to welcome you all here! :)

Of course most things are just a Google away, but we thought it would be nice to summarize a few details below, including options on getting here, what we like to do and/or recommended activities/ excursions. A full beach week however, is never a wrong option!

The doctor reminds you not to forget sunscreen!

Getting here

Plane

You can fly into Pula Airport, the closest airport, then take a scenic one hour drive to Novigrad. Finding a taxi from the airport is easy and cheap (10-15 Euros), but there are also options to rent a car from the airport.

Flights from Copenhagen/Gothenurg to Pula will most likely be through Zagreb or another more central European city. Check out budget airlines! Another tip is to fly domestically from other Croatian cities (Split, Dubrovnik), if you'd like to check out other cities.

SAS has had direct flights to Pula, but these have been disappearing over the years...

Car

The groom's parents often drive down from Scandinavia, and it's supposed to be quite pleasant. Novigrad is close to Italy, so it could also be an option to drive from there.

Car rentals are otherwise cheap in Croatia.

Activities

Besides relaxing at the beach and strolling through the town, popular activities in the city include renting bikes, SUP/ kayak/ jet skis. If you're staying more than a few days and looking for experiences outside Novigrad, we can recommend the following...

Rovinj

Pula Amphitheater

  • Day trips to Venice (via a ferry from Rovinj or Pula)

  • Day trips to Pula, Rovinj or Motovun (our favorites)

  • Visit local wineries: Kozlovic (pictured above)

  • Road trip through Slovenian coasts to northern Italy (Italian border town of Trieste is 1 hr and 20 min car ride away)

Ps. Let us know your plans! We would love to travel with you or help set up groups who want to tour together.

Pps. A full beach week is also very enjoyable! 🌞

Accommodation

The wedding venue, Palazzo Rainis, is a beautiful and small hotel with 16 rooms that will be reserved for our guests on the days surrounding the wedding. The current cost per night is around 250-300€ (incl. breakfast).

As we are still negotiating the costs for the hotel rooms, we would be grateful to hear from you if staying at the villa is your preferred choice. We are expecting a larger discount with more rooms booked.

Otherwise, there are many great options for accommodation during your stay. We've had experience with both AirBnbs as well as local B&Bs. Please reach out to us if you have questions regarding where to stay. Find a summary of the best rated hotels below:
